Weston Favell Shopping Centre Celebrates Golden Jubilee
Weston Favell Shopping Centre, a beloved Northampton landmark, has recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. This golden jubilee year was a resounding success, attracting over five million visitors, a testament to the centre’s enduring appeal.
The celebrations were not just about marking a milestone, but about honouring the community that has supported the centre for five decades. Manager Kevin Legg and his team invited locals to join in the festivities, which included a nostalgic exhibition and a grand birthday bash.
Kevin, who returned to Weston Favell in 2006 after a stint in Peterborough and Leicester, has been instrumental in the centre’s success. He proudly remarked, “It’s been amazing and we are in a great place.” The centre’s future looks bright, with new retailers eager to join the successful venture and exciting developments in the pipeline.
One of the highlights of the anniversary year was the centre’s fundraising efforts. Through their ‘Honesty Library’, they raised nearly £2,000 each for five local charities, demonstrating their commitment to giving back to the community.
