Northampton’s Sandra Currie Honoured with OBE
As we welcome the New Year in Northampton, we’re also celebrating one of our own, Sandra Currie, who has been recognised in the King’s New Year’s Day Honours List with an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE). This prestigious honour is in recognition of her exceptional services to people affected by kidney disease.
Sandra, the chief executive of Kidney Research UK, has been at the helm of the Peterborough-based charity for over 12 years. During her tenure, she has overseen significant growth in the charity’s activities and research funding. An impressive £71 million has been invested in research in the last decade alone, a testament to Sandra’s dedication and leadership.
Kidney disease is a silent epidemic affecting around 7.2 million people in the UK, including more than 80,000 in Northamptonshire. Sandra’s work has been instrumental in raising awareness of this disease and championing the needs of kidney patients and their loved ones amongst government, NHS, policy makers, and industry.
At James Anthony Estate Agents, we’re proud to be part of a community that fosters such remarkable individuals. We believe it’s the people that make Northampton a great place to live. We’re here to help you find your perfect home in this vibrant community, where you can be part of the positive change that people like Sandra are driving.
Sandra’s recognition is a reminder of the importance of community engagement and the difference one person can make. As we move into the new year, let’s take inspiration from Sandra’s dedication to make our local community and the world a better place. Here’s to a new year filled with hope, resilience, and community spirit.
