The festive season is upon us, and Duston is gearing up for its beloved annual tradition—The Duston Annual Santa Street Visit. This heartwarming event, which started in 2021, sees a dedicated group of volunteers joining Santa on his sleigh to spread joy and festive cheer throughout the community.

Every year, volunteers accompany Santa as he travels around Duston, meeting children, handing out sweets, and collecting donations for The Lewis Foundation. This charity supports cancer patients, making the event not only a festive delight but also a meaningful cause. Families can also enjoy Santa selfie stops, capturing magical moments with the man in red.

The initiative was sparked by Stephanie Willows and her friend Liz, who rallied a group of willing volunteers to bring this festive vision to life. The community came together to craft a sleigh and plan a route that covers most of Duston, ensuring Santa can meet as many children as possible in one day.

The event gained momentum through social media, with calls for volunteers to walk the six-to-seven-mile route, handing out sweets to excited children. Donation boxes are placed across Duston, encouraging locals to contribute wrapped sweets for the big day.

This year, the sleigh ride kicks off at 3pm on December 21. A detailed map of Santa’s route and sweet donation spots is available, ensuring no one misses out on the festive fun.

With £328 raised in 2023 and £409 in 2024, the team is eager to surpass these figures in support of The Lewis Foundation. Stephanie extends her gratitude to Duston Community Centre for providing space to prepare the sleigh, Shire Mobility for pulling it, and Craig the driver for his invaluable help.

Join the Duston community this December for a day of festive joy and community spirit, and help make a difference with Santa and his merry band of volunteers.
