Northampton’s Illustrator: A Beacon of Unique Artistry
Northampton is a town brimming with talent, and one of our local gems is the incredibly gifted illustrator, Emma Britten. Her art and illustration business, The Wild Patch, is a testament to her dedication and passion for her craft. As a community, we are proud to support her journey and celebrate the uniqueness of her hand-drawn work.
Emma’s journey into the world of art began at a tender age, inspired by her watercolour artist grandfather. Her passion for art led her to pursue a foundation course, an undergraduate and a masters degree, all centred around art. Today, she is the proud owner of a studio at The Old Dairy Farm Craft Centre in Upper Stowe.
The year 2024 was a challenging yet rewarding year for The Wild Patch. Emma had to navigate through different phases, focusing on her portfolio and website to secure client work. Despite the challenges, she found success in commissions, particularly in designing window murals for local businesses.
Emma’s work is a breath of fresh air in a world that’s increasingly going digital. Her hand-drawn designs are cherished for their uniqueness and originality. Visitors love leafing through her sketchbooks at markets, sparking conversations and admiration for her work.
Two of Emma’s 2024 highlights were designing the window mural for The Wedding Rooms on the Market Square, and a t-shirt for a coffee shop in Leicestershire. As we look forward to 2025, Emma has launched her new portfolio, aiming to secure more client work and commissions.
The Wild Patch will be attending around five markets this year and reintroducing workshops for the Northampton community. Emma is also excited to collaborate with Daventry Wellness to offer art workshops.
At James Anthony, we understand the importance of community and supporting local talent. We’re proud to be part of a community that nurtures such talent. As Emma continues to grow her business, we look forward to seeing more of her unique creations around Northampton.
