Northampton’s Eastfield Academy Celebrates Ofsted Success
In the heart of Northampton, Eastfield Academy is beaming with pride. Their hard work and dedication have been recognised by Ofsted, the UK’s official body for inspecting schools. This recognition is particularly significant as Eastfield Academy is one of the last schools to be rated under the former Ofsted system.
The Government recently announced plans to discard one-word overall Ofsted ratings for schools. Despite this, Eastfield Academy received a ‘good’ rating, a testament to the school’s continuous efforts to provide quality education.
Located in St Alban’s Close, Eastfield Academy was meticulously inspected over two days in July. The report, published online this month, commended the school for its pupils’ progress and the imaginative activities devised by teachers to engage students.
The school’s students were praised for their outstanding behaviour and excellent attitudes to learning. The report also highlighted the success of the recently formed senior leadership team in driving improvement, as teaching has strengthened and standards have risen.
However, the journey to excellence is continuous. The report suggested areas for improvement, including the variation in teachers’ expectations of what pupils can learn and produce, and providing clearer guidance on how students can improve their work.
Assistant Principal Keleigh Moore expressed her pride in the school’s achievement, stating, “It’s a real positive affirmation of all the hard work everyone has been putting in.” She also emphasised the school’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, and the sense of belonging that the students feel.
Looking ahead, Eastfield Academy is prepared for the new curriculum that came into play at the start of the academic year. Moore acknowledged the constructive feedback from Ofsted and confirmed that they were already planning improvements.
As the Ofsted rating system changes, Eastfield Academy stands ready to embrace the future. Moore expressed confidence in the school’s ability to adapt and continue striving for excellence.
