New Support for Deaf Community Announced

Exciting news for Northamptonshire’s deaf and hard of hearing community! As one chapter closes, another opens with RJ Community CIC stepping up to the plate. From April 1st, this dynamic organisation will be the new beacon of support, ensuring that no one is left in silence.
Deafconnect, the previous provider, had to close its doors earlier than expected due to financial challenges. But fear not, as RJ Community CIC is ready to fill the gap, promising a smooth transition and a service that truly resonates with the community’s needs. Their motto, “your community, your way,” speaks volumes about their commitment to inclusivity and accessibility.
The councils of North and West Northamptonshire have been proactive, ensuring there’s no interruption in support. Councillor Eddie McDonald emphasised the importance of continuity, stating that the primary goal is to keep residents feeling supported and connected. Meanwhile, Councillor Laura Couse highlighted the opportunity to enhance service accessibility and inclusivity.
RJ Community CIC will offer a range of services, from advocacy and training to community activities, all designed to empower individuals with hearing impairments. This is a testament to their dedication to making a lasting positive impact.
While Deafconnect will continue to offer services by appointment until March 31st, the transition to RJ Community CIC promises to be seamless. The Spencer Dallington Community Centre, previously a hub for Deafconnect, awaits new developments, with local MP Lucy Rigby assuring that announcements will follow soon.
