Leanne Wood

Bugbrooke’s very own Leanne Wood has made our community proud by walking away with not one, but three prestigious awards at the BBC Gardeners’ World Live event in Birmingham. This primary school teacher from Bugbrooke near Northampton received a platinum award, along with accolades for best beautiful border and best magazine subscriber. Her show garden, aptly named “Following in My Footsteps,” was a charming three-square-metre plot featuring a delightful mud kitchen.

The theme for this year’s beautiful borders event was “Share my space,” encouraging participants to create gardens where people could come together, learn from each other, and cultivate a shared green oasis. Despite the limited space, Ms Wood drew inspiration from her grandparents’ garden, incorporating a cobbled area reminiscent of her childhood memories.

Collecting the awards was an “amazing” experience for Ms Wood. She expressed her joy, saying, “It’s been wonderful to listen to visitors’ reactions to the border. Many have picked out elements that they’d like to replicate at home and I’m so pleased it has inspired so many.”

The judges were evidently impressed by how Ms Wood transformed a small plot into a space that resonated with the event’s theme. Her garden not only showcased her creativity but also her ability to inspire others to create their own green havens.

Ms Wood’s success is a testament to her dedication and passion for gardening. Her achievements at the BBC Gardeners’ World Live event have certainly put Bugbrooke on the map, and we couldn’t be prouder. As she continues to inspire both her students and the community, we look forward to seeing more of her green-fingered magic in the future.

Congratulations, Leanne Wood, on your well-deserved success!
