Celebrating Ten Years of Baking Success
In the heart of Northampton, The Good Loaf Bakery has been kneading more than just dough for the past ten years. Founded in 2015, this remarkable social enterprise has been on a mission to provide employment opportunities for vulnerable women, offering them a chance to rise above challenging circumstances. From mental health struggles to the hurdles of the criminal justice system, The Good Loaf has been a beacon of hope, helping women break the cycle of offending, unemployment, and poverty.
The bakery’s decade of success was recently celebrated with a visit from Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, Princess Anne. Her visit was a testament to the incredible work being done by The Good Loaf in supporting women through work placements in their community café and catering departments. Every loaf purchased supports vital training and social reintegration programmes, paving the way for a brighter future for many.
Under the leadership of Chief Executive Suzy Van Rooyen, who has been with The Good Loaf since its inception as part of C2C Social Action, the bakery has flourished. They proudly supply bread to local cafes and restaurants, including Northampton General Hospital and the University of Northampton. The support from locals who visit the bakery directly is also invaluable.
At James Anthony, we understand the importance of community and the power of local enterprises like The Good Loaf. Their success is a testament to the strength and resilience of Northampton’s community spirit. Here’s to another decade of delicious bread and life-changing opportunities!
