Nestled in the heart of Northampton at Woodmeadow Garden Centre, The Shack is celebrating its first anniversary with flair and creativity. This charming business, founded by the enterprising Karen Akhtar, has blossomed into a vibrant hub for 47 independent crafters and traders. What began with 31 artisans has grown, and now The Shack is a bustling marketplace where creativity knows no bounds.

Karen, who previously ran The Little Magic Room, envisioned a space where local crafters could showcase their unique creations. When the opportunity arose at the garden centre, The Shack was born. Since its inception, it has been a treasure trove of originality, ensuring that no two visits are ever the same. This dynamic atmosphere has made The Shack a beloved destination for gift seekers and those looking for a welcoming place to explore.

Reflecting on the past year, Karen shared her excitement with the Chronicle & Echo, expressing pride in the shop’s growth and the loyal customer base it has cultivated. With 47 traders under its roof, The Shack remains a testament to the enduring appeal of local craftsmanship. Many of the original traders continue to thrive, contributing to the shop’s ever-evolving charm.

The Shack’s allure lies not only in its diverse offerings but also in its warm and inviting atmosphere. It hosts an array of workshops and events, from painting and willow weaving to psychic readings and reflexology. Karen is eager to introduce late-night shopping events this summer, inviting customers to share their ideas for new experiences.

At James Anthony, we celebrate local enterprises like The Shack, which enrich our community with creativity and passion. Whether you’re a crafter or a customer, The Shack offers a unique experience that captures the spirit of Northampton.
